Stop Google Chrome Opening Old Tabs

By admin ·

If you’re anything like me, you tend to open up multiple tabs at a time when working on a project. The last thing you want to see the next day when first opening up your Google Chrome profile is a remnant of your tab filled past. Which is why this guide exists!

Here is an easy way to stop Google Chrome from opening old tabs at startup!

1

Open Settings

Located on the top right of the window, click the three vertical dots. In the drop-down menu that appears, click Settings.

2

Search for Startup

In the settings page that opens, enter “startup” in the search bar. Your screen should now match the image above.

3

Change What Happens at Startup

In order for Google to know not open previous tabs when starting up, make sure to check off the first option on the list: Open the New Tab page.

Alternatively, you could have Google Chrome open on a specific page(s) if you’d prefer!

There you go! Now, whenever you open your Google Chrome, a blank new tab will appear instead of whatever you had been working on last!
